In Loving Memory of Sue Ellen Cummins 1957-2021
Artist. Entrepreneur. Fundraiser. Graphic Designer. Multiple Scholarship awardee. First generation college graduate. Daughter of the American Revolution. Colonial Dame. World Traveler. Fashionista. Horticulturist. Baking Boss. Bilinguist. Tech Guru. Caring and generous friend. Loving wife. Doting mother.
Sue Ellen Cummins was all of these and more. She was a beloved friend of The Haverford School who will forever be remembered as a volunteer extraordinaire! Sue Ellen was gracious and unstoppable...she was first to lend a hand wherever it was needed and quickly made others feel welcome doing the same. She dedicated her time and talent, focusing on her children’s schools, including The Haverford School and Agnes Irwin School, to booster fundraising and friendship.
Our HSPA was fortunate to have Sue Ellen volunteer as Third Grade Class mom (2006), Technology Advisor (2007-2008), Ways and Means (2009), Haverford Volunteers (2010), and Gala co-Chair for the 2012 Gala, Haverford Goes Gatsby. From 2012 until her passing, Sue Ellen continued to assist our main fundraiser co-chairs with Program Book layout and design, event logo creation and technical planning. As well as her work with the HSPA, Sue Ellen was very involved with fundraising to help our Crew Team secure a new shell for the team. Upon her arrival at the Crew Tent for races, our Haverford School Crew family would cheer for her!
It is with pleasure that we dedicate our HSPA online store to her memory. Sue Ellen’s technological insight brought the HSPA into the online world as she set up our HSPA online store and watched over it as store director for many years. She shared her wisdom , artistic and creative talents with those that continue to monitor the HSPA’s online enterprise. We are forever grateful to have shared in Sue Ellen’s journey and blessed to have experienced Sue Ellen’s love for life, especially her love for all that is maroon and gold!
